Sixty years ago on October 10, The Beach Boys released “Good Vibrations,” one of the most influential recordings in popular music history. For me, this anniversary brings back a personal memory of hearing Brian Wilson tell the story behind the song.
During a visit to Brian’s Beverly Hills home, he shared how the idea began with something his mother told him as a child. Hearing that story directly from Brian is a memory I’ll always treasure. To celebrate the song’s 60th anniversary, we created a video for his official social media accounts that shares that moment with his fans.
A Creative Partnership That Became Personal
For more than 20 years, Designsite helped promote Brian’s solo career and celebrate his Beach Boys legacy. Our work included website design, retail branding, e-commerce, video editing, digital promotions, and social media management.
We built websites highlighting his recordings, tours, and film projects, including an interactive career timeline featuring rare music, photographs, and videos. We also collaborated on the Pet Sounds podcast and worked with Disney, Capitol Records, Universal Music, and other partners.
But the part I value most is the time spent with Brian himself. He was smart, funny, and wonderful company. The conversations, stories, and laughter gave our work a personal meaning that went far beyond any individual project.
Continuing Our Work with Brian’s Estate
Today, we continue our work with Brian Wilson’s estate, helping share his music, memories, and legacy with longtime fans and new listeners.
This anniversary video is one small part of that ongoing work. It’s also a reminder of how much a personal story can add to our appreciation of a familiar song. Sixty years later, “Good Vibrations” still inspires—and I’m grateful to have heard a little of its beginnings from Brian himself.
