Website Design Meets Film Promotion: “The Last Inventor”

Some projects connect with everything we love about creative work: an inspiring story, beautiful imagery, and the opportunity to help something meaningful reach a wider audience.

We’re proud to partner with the filmmakers behind The Last Inventor: Chuck Hull & The Hope of 3D Printing, providing website design and ongoing digital marketing for this documentary feature directed by our friend Brent Wilson.

The film follows Chuck Hull’s journey from a small-town innovator to the father of 3D printing, exploring how his invention continues to reshape medicine, manufacturing, housing, fashion, and space exploration. It’s a remarkable story about creativity, persistence, and the impact one person’s idea can have on the world.

A Squarespace Website with a Cinematic Feel

Our goal was to create a website that reflects the film’s visual creativity while making it easy for visitors to explore its story and follow its progress.

Built on Squarespace, the website brings together compelling imagery, film information, and news in a cohesive, engaging experience. It also serves as an evolving home for the documentary, featuring announcements and upcoming film festivals as they’re added, so audiences have a central place to find the latest updates.

Building an Audience Beyond the Screen

Our work extends well beyond the website. Designsite is developing digital media strategies, creating social content, and managing scheduling and posting to help introduce the film to audiences across several communities.

The initial campaign focuses on the film’s premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California on October 17, 2026—building awareness, encouraging ticket sales, and celebrating this exciting milestone for the filmmakers.

Social media includes Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, with content tailored to each platform. Instagram offers a natural setting for the film’s striking visuals and the creative possibilities of 3D printing. LinkedIn connects the story with its business audience: inventors, designers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and professionals whose work is being transformed by the technology.

LinkedIn is already proving especially popular with 3D printing enthusiasts, related businesses, and professionals featured in the film. Among them is renowned designer Danit Peleg, a pioneer in wearable 3D-printed fashion whose work demonstrates the extraordinary connection between technology and personal creativity.

Keeping the Momentum Going

The campaign is designed to grow beyond the premiere, with creative plans that include a contest inviting 3D printing enthusiasts to share their own ingenuity. Our marketing roadmap extends through March 2027, building toward the SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, and creating opportunities to keep audiences engaged along the way.

For Designsite, this project brings together website design, storytelling, and ongoing digital marketing in support of a film we’re proud to help share. We’re excited to work alongside Brent and the production team as more audiences discover Chuck Hull’s story—and the possibilities his invention continues to inspire.
