Why We Simplified the Designsite Website

When we looked at our analytics, one thing stood out: most people were learning about Designsite – and contacting us – from our homepage. Our Services, About and Contact pages weren’t getting nearly as much traffic. So we asked ourselves a simple question:

Do we really need all those pages?

For the new Designsite website, we decided to simplify. The homepage now does most of the work. It quickly explains who we are, our Squarespace website design expertise, examples of our work, FAQs, additional branding and digital marketing services, and clear calls to action. The top navigation is still there, but instead of sending visitors to multiple pages, key links smoothly take them to the right section of the homepage.

On mobile, this approach feels especially natural. It’s much easier to swipe through a clear, visual story than constantly open menus and tap through page after page. And fewer pages doesn’t necessarily mean less SEO. What matters is having useful, relevant content that clearly explains your business – not repeating similar copy across multiple pages.

This approach isn’t right for every website. Many small businesses need dedicated pages for individual services and more detailed content. But for Designsite, our analytics showed us that simpler made more sense.

Good website design should make it easy for people to understand who you are, what you do and what to do next. Sometimes, less really is more.

Take a look at the new Designsite website and see the approach in action:
